Summer Game Fest
The big announcement:
The biggest news at this year's Summer Game Fest, [[link]] at least for us older PC gaming practitioners, was the announcement that Civilization 7 is on the way next year. We already knew Firaxis was working on the next game in the legendary grand strategy series, but it's nice to have it confirmed. The bad news is that they didn't reveal much—details won't come until August.

Even putting aside Hades 2, it's been a strong year for the action roguelike genre. released in early access and is really cool, we recently previewed , and at this year's Devolver Direct, former lead Dead Cells designer Sébastien Benard . (It's not a roguelike, but looks pretty sweet, too.)

Microsoft put on a packed show. , our has us optimistic, and new games and look pretty cool.
Ted and Rich were both impressed by a couple trailers they didn't expect to be:

Ubisoft Forward
The big reveal: Star Wars Outlaws
finally showed off extended gameplay from its open world Star Wars game, which is due out in August. Morgan also got to play a bit of Star Wars Outlaws: He liked aspects of it, but came away .
The other big reveal: Assassin's Creed Shadows
After a trailer in the Xbox showcase, Ubisoft gave us the deep dive into its first Assassin's Creed set in Japan. Morgan didn't get to play it, but did get an hour-long look at the dual-protagonist adventure and : good-looking combat and some proper stealth.
